Greetings, readers! I’m Kevin Freelunch, and as you may have guessed by the photos, I’m a Neko. More to the point, I’m a Feral Neko, meaning that the skins I prefer are striped, spotted, and more animal in nature (No pun intended). I think this makes me fairly unique in the modeling business, as most “animal” varieties represented are either normal skins with ears and tail, or full blown Furry avatars. Nothing against either of these other methods of finding one’s ‘wilder side’. I suppose I just like to find the middle ground and make it my own.
For my inaugural post, I figured I’d keep it simple and feature what lives in my default clothing folder. You have one of those, right? Simply put, it’s a complete look all contained in one folder for ease of highlighting and clicking on “Replace Outfit” so I can dressed, head to toe in a flash. Shirt, pants, shoes, skin, ears, tail, and accessories…everything, all in one conveinent location. Never know when you’re going to need to slap on your clothes in a hurry and jump out a window, right? Indeed. These are the items found in mine, and therefore, the best look at what could be considered my own personal ’style’. It could be argued that I have zero fashion sense, and I’d have to agree. I have no idea what’s ‘hot’ and what’s ‘not’ in the fashion world, but I do know what I like. I guess in that regard I’m a ‘blue collar’ guy comfortable in the old American standby; blue jeans and T-shirts, usually tank tops with a few accessories. Yeah, I’m a simple Tomcat. =^.^=
Also of note; some of the items I’ll be talking about today are creations from my own store, “ImpKats”, but please don’t think this is my attempt to hijack this blog to plug my own products. They are simply the items I wear the most and thus, are up for today’s discussion. In future posts I’m going to be featuring outfits and or looks from other designers out there, trust me. If you see me in world working in my garage, chances are, this is what I’ll be wearing. For now, this is my first time at the dance, so please…. Be gentle.
Let’s start off with two constants in my universe; my goggles and collar. I wear one, if not both of these, with nearly every outfit I own, and they’ve become a part of who I am, even more then my skin. Expect to see these in future photos to be certain, but this will be the one time I talk about them in any detail.
The “Aviator Goggles”, crafted by Philo Sion of =Eat Me= are a purchase I’d made well over a year ago, in a small store in Harajukubox City’s old location and while I’ve seen a lot of goggles out there, these are still my absolute favorite, due to their amazing detail, and perfect texturing. These are pre-sculpty and I’d put them up against anything made nowadays. The set comes with multiple copies of the eyewear in a variety of attachment positions, such as on the forehead, worn over the eyes, and hanging around the neck. This is also part of their appeal to me. No matter what I’m doing, be it riding, flying, Steampunking, or just hanging out, this one set of goggles is all I need to fit in with nearly any look I’m sporting on any given day.
The collar is one of my own creations; in fact, it’s the first wearable object I ever made. It’s a simple black leather collar with the Insignia of the Galactic Empire from Star Wars as the charm. As this item, and quite a few of the items you’ll see today will show you, I’m a fan of Star Wars, and I wear it like a badge…Err… a collar. Many Neko out there have different collars to suit their moods, coordinate with an outfit, etc. While I have made different collars, all with variations on the Imperial theme, this is the one I always come back to. Nothing flashy, just black and silver, and that goes with anything, right?
The hair is “Selos” by Deviant Kitties and is my preferred choice when I feel like pulling the mane back into a ponytail. I always buy the White with natural tips set of whatever style I’m purchasing from them, Since all their Hair is Copy/Mod, allowing me to easily match the color to whatever skin I wear, including Tiger stripes.
I wear a lot of tank tops in my everyday SecondLife. I think they can be flattering for my shape, plus they have an air of roughness to them which suits the alley cat in me. This one is another of my own creations, repeating the theme of loyalty to the Star Wars Empire. Black often works really well with my skin, offering a contrast to the orange of my base color, yet coordinating with the stripes.

Around my waist is yet another nugget of geekiness from ImpKats. A trophy belt, meaning it has a variety of “trophies” hanging from it, such as lightsabers, Tusken Raider tusks and eyes, Wookiee braids, and other such items. (The fat orange stripey thing is my tail, and is not included as part of the belt…sorry. XD )
The pants are “Torn Jeans” from Mr. Chaps. They have a decent texturing to them, plus they’re mod, so I could tuck them into my boots, and the worn holes add to the overall rugged look I’m going for.
“When you see someone putting on his Big Boots, you can be pretty sure that an Adventure is going to happen.” - Winnie the Pooh
Truer words have never been spoken and I live by them. I’m a huge fan of boots, and my old reliables are “Homicidal Boots” by GutterBlood Spoonhammer. His business doesn’t appear to have a brand name, and his stuff is literally tossed onto a pile of garbage in Glass Earth, but garbage it ain’t. Highly detailed builds in their own right, well textured and just all around great stomping boots. If you like that sort of thing, I’d give his stuff a look.
So that’s the Default folder and my own personal style. Next time, I’ll be featuring some other things that I dig that are made by far more talented people then me.
