It feels like a lot has happened in the scant week since I blogged last. A week ago I decided to take a break. It happened to fall upon my RL Spring break, oddly enough! Real Life ate the week greedily like so much happy candy, and spit me out at the end of it faced with a connundrum: what to write about in my first post back?

It’s been a week of growth, inside and out. Thanks to Luc and Loafy and Azazeal and hyasynth for sitting through it with me and carefully putting me feet-side-down whenever I landed on my back. Also thanks to the Atlanta air traffic control tower for a three-hour navel gaze on the tarmac while they got their radio silence unsilenced. That was useful! Okay it wasn’t useful at all, but it did make me realize something important: Air travel beats covered wagons, no matter how long the wait.

So what did I do on hiatus? I went to Ohio and back. I pondered the question Why do we do what we do? And I stuck all the review items people have given me into a folder labeled IMPORTANT OK, and will get to that as soon as possible. Cheers, everyone! Didja miss me?

Les Girls!

If you’re in Tuli’s group in December you got a sneak peak of what’s to come in 2010. In the past months Tuli has been working hard to come up with a new sim. The sim will open on March 18th and I’m sure there will be SURLS to follow as we’re currently four days away from the big release date. There won’t be any party, but there will be a new skin in celebration. Eva will be available in seven tones and three eyebrows (black, brown, and light). I’m wearing tone 4 with brown eyebrows. I’ve been looking for a skin to wear and I think I may have found it with Tuli. Here’s a little sneak peak as to what you can expect to see from Tuli when it reopens on the 18th of this month. The hair is jet black, but it comes with a customisable HUD for the helmet, and how can you really beat having some Marlboro’s stuffed in the headband? Truly. This is completely worth it. Love/Hate

Yes, it’s been quiet around here lately. But it’s only because we’ve been trying to prepare ourselves for RFL Clothing Fair 2010. I starts today at 3PM and is nine sims of beautiful, fantastic clothing. There is so much good stuff, but as a teaser, I’m going to show you my absolute favorite RFL outfit I’ve found so far. It comes from Solange! a store I discovered at the Clothing Fair last year. I was totally in love with her outfit then, but seeing this set blows everything out of the water. The details are amazing, the gears move, and have fun trying to find any seams in those rich and delicious textures.

Right now is an interesting time as I find myself reflecting a lot on the past year. Last year at this time I came clean with my Mother’s cancer diagnosis and my only request of you was to go spend a pile at RFL. The outpouring of love and support I received from all of you helped me in such an immeasurable way, and I still thank you to this day for every thing you did for me, no matter how small. I never asked for much, I could never do so to begin with, but the generosity I encountered was spirit lifting and really helped me get through that hard time.

Today my Mother is cancer free. She’ll be on watch for about five years, but she is totally dedicated to being a soldier for her own cause, and is living a happy and full life. It is because of the money that is poured in to cancer research that this is possible. Even five years ago my Mother’s diagnosis would have been far more grim. So please take today to think about your family and loved ones who have found themselves face to face with this demon, those that could and tell them you love them. Then GO SPEND YOUR BUTTS OFF AT RFL

On the Loose in Second Life

I arrived at the main teleport hub, armed with an satchel of L$, eager to start my journey through the great fashion cities of the world.

Of course, the starting point for my journey was an easy decision, being a native New Yorker, I started in New York City, of course!

I picked up the racey Mimo top and pants to wear while I explored new York. This sim is wonderful, it truly picks up the feel of NYC! At only 75 L$ each, these were a steal by New York satndards.

Next up (and conveniently right next door in this virtual world) was Paris, city of light and romance. Luckily, all the tourist hot spots are packed within a few steps of one another, saving me tons of money on cab fares.

SySy’s Fashions provided the perfect little dress to wear as I continued with my shopping trip. This cute number set me back only 1L$ (whew!), leaving me lots of money to buy up some yummy outfits.. which I’ll show in tomorrow’s post.

Rio! City of Carnival, and uninhibited hedonism.. at least that’s what I’ve heard. Peeps Fashions satisfied my craving for something short and flirty to wear while I explore this fun city with the free Dotty Dress.

Milan was the next stop on my world-wide shopping frenzy. I was determined to grab a good bargain in every city I stopped in, and Milan didn’t disappoint.

Awesome Designs had some awesome clothes (complete with flats for my sore feet!) that were perfect for exploring this ancient city. And did I mention, they were absolutely free?

Strange Pixels

To have one of your favorite creators design an outfit with you in mind is an honor.   For it to be so spot-on as something you’d love,  and drop-dead gorgeous,  is fully squee-worthy.  What I’m trying to say here is:  ZOMG HYA MADE AN OUTFIT NAMED AFTER ME AND IT’S AAAWWWESOMEEE!

In so many words.

The Mourna set from Silent Sparrow is part dancing silks, part burlesque.  I love the  sleek, velvety, button-up corset, the subtle little ruffles peeping out, the fingerless gloves, and so many other great little details.   And it is available in Hyasynth’s usual complement of rich colors that make it impossible to choose a favorite.

I’m wearing another one of the beautiful new Mosaic skins from Nomine.  And to complete the circle of my vanity, I had no choice but to choose one of the Mourna makeup styles.

I’m going to wrap this up, before I have to start resizing my hair to fit on my gigantic head.

Second Life Fetish Fashion Guide

By chance, almost out of desperation, I entered a search in SL to see if I had somehow not noticed a new store or pony sim, and, imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this gem of a store.

Unbridled seems to have popped up from nowhere. And it offers a few original items that impressed me.

And even more lucky, the owner was there working on a new product, which I am sorry to say, I interrupted for a while.

Mina Keng cuts an impressive figure, and was only too happy to chat, although was cut short by a real life interruption. Don’t you just hate how that happens?

I looked around and saw a neat cage where the pony, once inside, has no option but to sleep standing up, just like a real pony.

Unfortunately, I gave into temptation and sat on the cage out in the store, and found myself rendered helpless and unable to escape. Pesky RLV!

Left with no other option, I cammed around the store where there is a pony bath complete with hand pump and poseball for the trainer to bathe the pony.

A breeding rack, with blanket for the mare to kneel on, and a stool for the trainer to comfort the nervous mare. A lovely touch.

Also in store was a smaller bath with brushes for the trainer to ensue the pony is clean. The obligatory milking stand, but with some original twists.

Also featured is a cart which allows RLV hitching of the pony, a selection of poses for the driver, including a cart horse whipping action, and a cage for a spare pony for those longer journeys.

Marvelous idea once more. And at a bargain price of just L£3500, I couldn’t help but get one.

A mall I rent at is having a special St. Patrick’s Day Sale that as the picture shows will last from March 12th until the 21st.

The sale has at least 12 stores that I counted (could be more if I missed any, or if people were slow in setting up for the sale), and several stores have more than one item set to be 50% off of the regular price. I alone have 11 items set up for the sale and after the 50% off they range from 38L to 138L. Alright here we go. The capris theses are about to go away so if you want them get your ass over to Tuli’s before the reopening this weekend. The flats, if you don’t own a pair of these from Miel by now, then I don’t know what to tell you, they are a staple in my SL closet. The sweater from Sn@tch, what can I say you get a bunch of colors for a low price is it really that hard to think about? The white take is actually part of the shirt I wore here. Look a piece you can wear more then one way…win!

Lets see skin and whatnots are up now. I adore the new skins from L.Fauna. I also love it when I am told I look different then everyone else in them.
