Dove Swanson asked people to suggest poses to her; my idea was a pose that I could use to hold a book or two. I wanted something nerdy and shy, much like me, and Dove somehow added a dollop of sass — “You want my book? On a real life note, I start a Pilates class today, which makes me remember Alba’s immortal words: “Mama, how are Pie Ladies gonna make you exercise?”
